Classic Movie Birthday Party Theme

Classic Movie Birthday Party Theme

If you are like most adults in the world you search far and wide for a somewhat unique theme for the next great birthday bash. If you are at a bit of a loss this year, how about going with a classic movie theme. You can either choose one movie or let guests come dressed as favorite characters from individual movies and have a hodgepodge collection of music and DVDs available to set the theme for the party. You can also elect to have movie posters from the movie (if going with a specific movie theme) or a variety of great classics if going with the flow and letting everyone become their favorite classic movie characters. If you want to get really creative you can assign characters to guests and make an adventure of having guests try to guess the character and the movie.

The sky is the limit when planning a classic movie birthday party. If you are considering going with one specific movie however, please feel free to select from some of the excellent themes and ideas below.

1) The Godfather. I can’t think of a more appropriate birthday party for a good many of the men I know. It’s a great classic movie and the guys will have a great time going over their favorite Godfather lines all night. Have some great Italian music, Italian food, and plan for a night of fun. Don’t forget to have the movie on hand so that arguments over infamous lines and old scores can be settled.
2) Casablanca. This is great theme for a birthday party for the one you love or a romantic celebration such as Valentine’s Day or an anniversary. Have white table clothes, the soundtrack from the movie, an elegant dinner, and dress in clothes appropriate for the era. This is a classic movie and will definitely be a night and a party to remember.
3) Star Wars has finally attained status as a true classic and while it may be more modern than what many have in mind for those of the thirty something generation it is a great movie to incorporate and will make for a ton of fun that really is out of this world. Again the soundtrack and the DVD make lovely companions to a party of this theme and you can argue over favorite lines and make wagers accordingly. Wage war with blasters and light sabers and dress as your favorite characters or assign characters to various guests.
4) Favorite Movie Villains. This is another great theme for a classic movie party that doesn’t get used nearly often enough. I think we all have one villain that we can identify as a favorite rather it was one that scared us into spilling our pop or one that we can identify with to some extent it is great fun to celebrate life by exploring that little touch of darkness within. It also tells a lot about the people you call friends.
5) Old Westerns. For those who are looking for the perfect excuse to start a campfire and sing campy old trail riding music, there is little like a wild western movie theme to make those dreams a reality. You could even complete the evening with cowboy karaoke and s’mores. Just make sure you have plenty of your favorite westerns on hand in case you forget the lyrics.

Classic movies provide an excellent source of inspiration for all manner of wonderful ideas for themed birthday parties. You could even go with a John Wayne theme, World War II theme, Steve McQueen, or Clint Eastwood birthday party theme. Let your imagination run wild and have a great time making the plans and choosing the decorations for your perfect classic movie birthday party ideas. You never know when you’ll end up striking gold and creating the perfect night for the special someone you know and love.

Adult Costume Ideas! Spice Up Your BBQ With Cool Costume Theme Parties

Adult Costume Ideas! Spice Up Your BBQ With Cool Costume Theme Parties

Our 2006 Summer has finally arrived, and for all the costume party enthusiasts that just can’t wait for Fall for Halloween to arrive once again, you may be searching for some really cool adult costume ideas for your next hot summer shindig!

The BBQ is ready, the burgers are seasoned, but you want to add a little more pizzazz to your outdoor summer party. So you decide to throw a costume party, but where do you begin? I will help you with some fun ideas that will have your guests requesting a costume encore party for many summer seasons to come.

Throwing a home and backyard costume party is a great way to entertain your guests, and is a fantastic way for new people to meet other individuals in a fun and interactive environment.

If you have gone to a get-together in the past where you don’t know many people, it can sometimes be very awkward, but when you create an interactive theme and add fun costumes, everyone can play the part, plus it allows all the guests to mingle comfortably in a unique non-stressful atmosphere.

Before sending out your invitations, you want to create a costume theme that is not difficult to achieve, and does not cost a lot of money. Some of the most popular theme parties in the past have been Hawaiian, Mardi Gras, Masquerade parties, but how about you get a little more creative and think of something that may not have been done yet, and if you’re having some difficulty coming up with any ideas, let me help you!

If You And Your Guests Love Movies, Fantasy, And Adult Party Themes, Read On!

When organizing a birthday party for children, it’s usually very simple and most kids enjoy being a clown, cowboy & cowgirl, or their favorite sci-fi characters. However, for adults you want to create a little more stimulation for the guests, and create that party theme that people just want to be a part of and talk about for weeks on end afterwards.

How do you go about creating this knockout theme party you ask? It’s simple! First you have to understand the type of guests you are going to invite, and then tailor the theme around what they like and their personalities.

This will determine how risky or tame your adult costume party will turn out to be. You don’t want to go too crazy if you happen to invite your parents, or future In-laws, and you don’t want to go to soft if you have a wild group of friends that like to go all out!

Adult Fun Starts With A Unique Theme And What You Create Around It

Once you determine your guests’ character traits, your next step is to find decorations, and also have your food complement the theme of your party. So you have a wild bunch of partiers? How about having a “Saran Wrap Party”! This one is easy, all you have to do is get all your guests to arrive wearing only Saran Wrap, and they can get as creative as they like, or they can be as revealing as they feel comfortable with. How about having a backyard beach party with a twist. All the men have to wear a one or two-piece women’s bathing suit, and the women have to wear men’s attire such as board shorts and beach shirts.

Now I know you may be asking where the fun is for the women wearing guys attire. The whole purpose is to get the guys in those g-string bikinis and create a really funny atmosphere. The men will be feeding off the humour and the women will feel less intimidated and possibly more open to the environment when meeting new guys at your party.

Whatever you decide to do, have fun and use your imagination. Get balloons, streamers, and lots of fun decorations, because they will really add to your theme and party atmosphere.

If you need to find costumes and accessories, and you just don’t have the time to drive all over town to find something really cool, consider many of the online costume shops that are offering fantastic summer deals! This is the best time to find what you need, because it’s not as busy as the fall season, and you will get your selected items quickly, and just in time for your next summer costume bash. Good luck and have fun!

Tips For Throwing A Great Dinner Party

Tips For Throwing A Great Dinner Party

If you are planning a dinner party, you may be wondering exactly how to go about it. You may be stuck deciding on a theme, where to hold the party or maybe even what to serve at the party? If so, you are certainly not alone. But with a little research, you can easily learn how to throw the best dinner party ever and here you will find just a few ideas to help you along the way.

Tips for Throwing the Perfect Dinner Party

When it comes to throwing a dinner party, the first thing that you want to do is to think of why you are throwing the party. Who is it for? What month are you throwing it in? The people who are attending the party will be the main people you base the party around. You need to think of what food they like, what type of people they are and whether the dinner party is for a special occasion.

If you are struggling for a theme, it can often be a good idea to throw a cultural party. Obviously this is better if anybody involved in the dinner party is from a certain culture, but even if they aren’t, it can often be a unique theme to use. You could go for a Moroccan theme, a Mexican theme or an Asian theme. Whatever theme you do choose, you will have to make sure that the food, the setting and the decorations all match that particular theme. So, if you are planning a Mexican theme, you will need to serve Mexican food such as Nachos.

When planning on where to actually hold the dinner party, usually most people choose to have it at their own home. That way it is easier, cheaper and you can control everything. However, you could also choose to have one at a restaurant or you could hire out a hall and do buffet style catering. Again, it depends entirely on the month of the year you are having the dinner party and what the dinner party is for. If it is for a special occasion then you may prefer a more formal style, or perhaps a buffet would be the best option, especially in summer.

Also, just because it is a dinner party, it does not mean that you have to have full dinner. You could just serve coffee and dessert. This is a perfect informal idea if you want a light, informal socializing dinner party.

There is a lot of planning that goes into a dinner party and there are many different ideas you can try. It helps to know your guests and use a unique theme wherever possible.

How to Throw an Unforgettable Kids Birthday Party

How to Throw an Unforgettable Kids Birthday Party

Kids take their birthdays very seriously, and are extremely disappointed if their birthday parties are anything short of spectacular. Throwing an unforgettable kids birthday party can sometimes seem like a task better suited for a professional event planner. But with the proper party supplies, a little know how and a lot of imagination, you can throw a birthday party that the kids will be talking about all year.
Before you let your inner party planner take over, make sure that throughout the process you consult with the birthday boy or girl, unless of course the party is a surprise. Kids have their own ideas of what makes a party fun, and if the kids don’t have a good time the party is a bust. Discuss possible theme ideas, party games, food, and favors with them to ensure everything is kid friendly. If you are planning a surprise party you can ask siblings or friends for ideas and opinions.
Theme Party Ideas
A successful kids birthday party starts off with a great theme. There are many great party themes you can choose from, everything from your child’s favorite toy to their favorite movie genre. The possibilities are endless and a good theme can really help pull your entire party together.
Some possible themes include:
Western (complete with cowboy hats)
Princess (tiaras for all the girls)
Cartoon characters
Disney
Carnival (clowns and plenty of games)
Toys (Bratz, Barbie, Hot Wheels, etc)
Once you have your theme chosen, planning out a kids birthday party becomes much easier. Try and get everything from the decorations to the food to tie into the theme. For instance, if you are throwing a Western theme party get cowboy birthday banners and serve up barbequed burgers, chili, and hot dogs. As party favors you can give each little guests their own cowboy or cowgirl hat to wear. Make sure the birthday boy or girl’s hat is extra special.
Fun and Games
Games are an important part of any kids birthday party. Games should be fun and get everyone involved. Offering some small prizes to the winner of each game is also a great idea for the kids. Have a variety of games, some that require the kids to get active and some that requires them to use their heads. This will give everyone an opportunity to win a prize.
Some fun kid’s games include:
Musical chairs
Pin the tail on the donkey (this can be tied into your party theme, for example if your theme is Disney you could have pin the ears on the mouse)
Relay races (you can get really creative with this one and get the kids to do everything from run a course with a balloon stuck between their legs to three legged races)
Memory games (show the kids a selection of items and see who can remember the most once you have taken them away)
Favors are one of the highlights for children at a birthday party. They love getting little gifts of their own to take home with them. You don’t need to get too extravagant when it comes to party favors. Try and get some favors to go along with your theme. If you are having a princess theme give the girls tiaras as they arrive and a bag full of beauty items. Hairbrushes, hair clips, nail polish, and lip gloss are all fun and inexpensive ideas. More general favor ideas include pencil and eraser sets, notepads, and candies.
Food for Thought
Party food is a key component to any great birthday party. Depending on how long the party is, you’ll probably want to offer a lunch or dinner as well as snack and treats throughout the day. Most kids don’t have discriminating tastes so you don’t need to go overboard with a gourmet meal. Simple is usually better when it comes to kids.
Keep your snacks standard. Candy, chips, and pop will suffice, there is no need to add any fancy appetizers to the mix since they will probably get ignored. However, adding a veggie and fruit plate is a good idea since even kids can get sick of the sweet stuff. Be sure to have plenty of beverages on hand, and to save your sanity try and avoid caffeinated pops. Juice and water should be on hand as well. You can also make a fun colorful fruit punch for the kids to enjoy.
As for food, stick with simple dishes such as pizza, burgers, and hotdogs. These items are simple to prepare (or order) and will be a hit with the kids. Before planning your menu check to see if any of the children have food allergies or special dietary needs. Most parents whose kids have serious allergies such as peanuts will probably let you know as soon as the invitation is accepted. However, if you’ve got a little vegetarian in the group the last thing you want to do is serve them a hamburger or hotdog.
The birthday cake is the piece de resistance of the party. Everyone loves to see what type of delightful cake will be presented and how many candles the birthday boy or girl can blow out. If your baking skills consists of adding eggs and water to a package mix, fear not. While a package cake will still be a hit with the kids, there are plenty of cake shops and bakeries that can create any cake you desire. For instance, if you’re going with a baseball sports theme, you can get a delicious cake of any type shaped like a baseball. The kids will love it, and it saves you time and frustration as well. Make sure you know the birthday boy or girl’s favorite flavor before you order.
While planning a birthday party can be a difficult and time consuming task, all the work will be worth it when you see how much fun all the kids have. Birthday parties are monumental occasion for kids, and the more special you can make it the better.

Three Fun Birthday Party Ideas at No or Very Little Cost

Three Fun Birthday Party Ideas at No or Very Little Cost

When you get into planning a birthday party, ideas pop into your head and the most common thought is one that will be cost effective and fun at the same time.  Birthday party supplies can cost more than the actual gifts but not if you look around and see what you can get for your money.  The most common thing that people want to do now is throw a birthday party with a theme.  Birthday party themes come in all shapes and sizes, from sports to theater to Barbie and super heroes for children’s parties.  The following birthday party ideas are meant to be cost effective for the party thrower and fun for the party goers.

Instead of buying supplies, try making your own decorations and cake.  If you have a computer, you can use one of your programs to make your own “Happy Birthday” banner.  This will save on buying a banner or special ordering a banner so that the name will be included.  Other decorations can be made from paper plates that have been drawn on and colored, as well as using blank white or colored paper that has been drawn on and colored as well.  These homemade decorations can be hung up with cheap cloth string that can be bought at the dollar store or can be hung up with fishing line.  As far as the cake goes, you can buy a nice brand of cake mix, some frosting and sprinkles, then bake and decorate the cake yourself.  This won’t only be fun for you; this will also mean more to the person whose birthday it is.

The second birthday party ideas should be to make your own theme.  If it is a child, find out what their favorite sport is or their favorite color.  A university student once chose to have a “Rubik’s Cube” theme party.  With this theme, he called everyone who would be coming to the party and asked them to wear an outfit where each piece of clothing was a color from the Rubik’s cube.  The object of the night was not only to celebrate his birthday but also to see if everyone could end up in an outfit of entirely one color of the Rubik’s cube by exchanging clothing.  His made up theme for his party ended up being a huge hit for not only himself but also for all of his friends that came to celebrate his birthday.

Finally, when making decorations or creating your own theme is out of the question due to time constraints, your local dollar store will have everything you need.  Different color streamers, ribbons, and balloons can be bought for less than ten dollars.  Though these decorations will only last for one party, they will be cheap and fun for all.
